Learning

How will the days be run?
Students will be introduced to each other and the course on the first day and will outline their hopes and expectations. The workshop will start with a fun establishing task that will assist in sorting skill levels. The workshops are conducted in a computer room so the class will have scheduled times to spend outside eating and getting some sun. There will be two main breaks, a recess in the morning and a lunch in the afternoon. The class will also have access to toilets and water fountains but it is recommended that students bring their own drink as well. The classes are run according to lesson plans based around creative problem solving. Teamwork is also greatly encouraged and catered to in the workshops. Each student tends to learn at their own pace; therefore the tutor will generally cater specific challenges to ensure constant student engagement and learning.

Will my child's learning level be catered to?
Yes. Brainstorm has structured its workshops and lesson plans to allow accessible learning at any level. If a student has a learning difficulty then they will be provided with appropriate and engaging tasks that will provide a comfortable challenge. If a student requires extending then they will be provided with special tasks allowing for application of advanced lateral thinking techniques and will receive constructive feedback on their solutions.

What is the child to tutor ratio?
Class sizes can vary but usually have between 10-15 students. All classes will have one tutor and do not exceed 22 students.
